We all have the fundamental right to clean water. Yet every Housatonic Water Works Company (HWW) customer has been exposed frequently to Haloacetic Acids (HAA5) since 2001, carcinogenic substances that can be ingested, inhaled, and absorbed via the skin (here is another good article). In addition, many residents are experiencing extremely poor water quality and customer service, and HWW (a for-profit corporate monopoly) wants to more than double our rates and implement invasive management controls after a very long history of failed promises. Neighbors, let’s stay informed, connect, and work together so that we can find a better solution to obtain safe, healthy, clean water at a reasonable rate.
